Auto Title
I am separated and the vehicle I drive is titled in my spouses name. I would like to trade this vehicle in for a new vehicle. The spouse will not sign over the title and is threatening to take the vehicle. What can I do to get the title in my name?

Serving and filing a petition for either dissolution or legal separation, along with a motion for temporary relief, would be one way to start toward that goal. That wouldn't work an immediate transfer, but it would give a court jurisdiction to make that kind of order, provided it ultimately finds it is the most equitable way to divide the property.
