Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
Is there anything I can do to help my boyfriend in Jail for child abuse. He got upset with my daughter and kicked her. But can he get out on bail if he lives with me and this is the only place he has to go considering he is from another state? Should I take the kids to my dads so he can come here. And who do i let know that I will not be staying here so he can come home? I do not feel that my daughter will be under any harm with him around. This was a one time occurrence. Can I talk to a public defender for him. He has no court date or anything considering this happened last night. Please tell me what I can help him with. I dont know anything that is going on because he is unable to call me.
1 Answer from Attorneys
First of all, if your boyfriend is charged with child abuse, it would not be wise to have him return to live with you. Doing so would likely mean child protection services become involved. they would likely remove the child from your home if that child is exposed to her abuser.
Second, a person charged must have an experienced and aggressive attorney in such matters, both top argue bail issues, and to negotiate or litigate the charges.
