Child custody and child support

I have been paying child support for 10 years, and I haven't seen the child. I want to know what my rights are.

Re: Child custody and child support

I am afraid that you have no enforceable rights until they are established in court by a court order. Child support is not related to parenting time or custody issues. They are separate and distinct.

You must file a Motion to determine custody and/or parenting time. A court will make such determinations based on what it views as in the nbest interests of the child. If you have had limited contact with the child for many years, any parenting time would start small and expand as you follow through and the child becomes comfortable with you.
