What is the legal punishment for being found in contempt on a child support case for less than $2500?

That is entirely up to the Judge. In a civil contempt case, a Judge may stay any jail sentence pending remaining current on payments. If a jail sentence is imposed, the length often depends on the particular facts of the case. An arrearage of $2500 is not particularly significant given the number of cases where arrears reach tens or hundred's of thoiusands of dollars. However, the court has other options to compel complaince by suspending any number of licenses or other rights.
