What does child support include?

Hi, I'm preparing for a divorce with my spouse and am trying to determine if I need an attorney and what some of the rules or guidelines are. I've heard alot of differing opinions of what child support payments are designed to include. I am trying to budget for my expenses after the divorce is final. I know child support covers the ''needs of the child'' however, specifically, does it include medical expenses, clothing (including when they are at either home), school/sports fees, childcare? Thanks.
