Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Child Support for kids with different mothers

Hello -

I have 2 kids from 2 relationships; I wasn't married to either mother. Child #1 I pay 25% of my income, Child #2 was just born - we'll be going to court for support soon. My question is how much will I be liable for? For instance, does the law state that only 35% of my income be ordered for support? Or do I have to pay another 25% for Child #2? I also know that she'll be asking for daycare expenses as well - can there be a cap for what I have to pay?

Right now I'm only making $18,000 verifiable income. I am self-employed & may get more but can't prove that income. Also; I'm paying $500 for Child #1.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Child Support for kids with different mothers

Child support for the second child will be around 25% of your net income after deducting 25% for the first child. The percentage decreases based on you income. It is likely thepercentage will be saround 20% given your income.
