Re: Child support/ paternity

I am afraid that the answer is "yes." A person may be sered with a paternity papers by a parent or the county in order to determine child support.

Thank's for your question. The simple answer is that, yes, the court can order you to submit to a paternity test. Before the court will order child support, the putative father has a right to contest paternity. In that case (and I am assuming the putative father did not sign a recognition of parentage), he is entitled to challenge paternity before support is ordered.
