Hello. Do view this reply as one describing generalities only: Child support law in MN is very, very complex & includes detailed statutes and a myriad of ongoing case law. MN child support law was 'overhauled', revamped, quite dramatically beginning on 1-1-2007. Many further details would need to be known. MN law provides guidelines for child support but, again, full details would need to be known even to make a tentative calculation of that 'guidelines' sum. 'Guidelines' means just that: A general principle or reference from which upward or downward variances may be made for an abundance of possible reasons. In some cases no child support whatsoever is paid between parents.
I suggest you go to the MN DHS website & read the detailed info' provided to the public there.
Should you yourself be contemplating, say, a physical separation from a mate with whom you share kids, or, for EG, be worried about the prospect of paying child support, I urge you to choose a well experienced attorney & confer with her, as appropriate to your personal situation & needs.
Be wary of 'free advice'.
I am afraid that much more information is necessary to calculate child support. It takes into consideration the parenting schedule, the incomes of both parties and whether either parent has other children from different relationship You should consult with an attorney regarding your matters.
