I am a resident of Georgia. My child support order is in Hennipin County, Minnesota. I am in arrears approximately $12,000. My Driver's License has been suspended. I do not know the location of my ex-wife and child, but somewhere in Minnesota. I am re-married and have a child by this marriage. I have the forms to request a modification as my salary is $7 per hour and cannot make my payments as set forth in the order. My ex-wife has changed my first child's last name to her maiden name. Does this affect child support? How can I request a paternity test for the child by my ex-wife as we were separated when she became pregnant. Will child support recovery in Minnesota contact her for a paternity test. If I am arrested, will I be transported back to Minnesota? Should I contact Child Support Recovery in Houston County, Georgia to make arrangements, or do I have to deal with Minnesota since that is where the order was signed.

I am afraid the name change has no impact on child support. It is a completely separate issue. Whether or not you can now seek a paternity test depends on many things, in particular, how paternity was established. If you were married and more than two years has passed, it would be too late to contest.
You could be arrested on a warrant,. It is up to the particular county as to whether they wish to extradite, At $12,000, it is likely.
Any arrangements must be made in Minnesota.
