Ordinarily child support ends when a child is emancipated. Emancipation occurs when the child is 18 and graduated from high school. Parties can agree that child support continues past emancipation. In some cases if the child is incapable of being self sustaining (i.e., if the child has a mental or physical disability and is unable to work), then child support can continue past the child's emancipation but there would need to be an Order to that effect.
