Is he in contempt of court?
We have been divorced nearly 4 years. Our divorce decree specifically states that my ex husband is to pay off and close our credit card account, held in both of our names. The amount owed on it at that time was very minimal. I relocated after the divorce and recently found out through his failure to make a payment that he not only didn't close the credit card account, but has charged it up to nearly $30,000. My repeated attempts to get the credit card company to remove my name from the account have been unproductive as they tell me they don't honor divorce decrees, and my ex husband refuses to answer my calls. This has ruined what was once my excellent credit rating. Is he in contempt of court? What, if anything, can I do???

A creditor is not bound by your divorce decree. They were not a party to teh action and you have a contract with them.

If your divorce decree is properly worded, you may be able to return to court for contempt and to seek payment for the debt.
