out of country visits
Can a non custodial parent legally take a child out of the country during their visit? My husband's ex-wife has visitation during the summer months and frequently takes the children to Canada for visits. My husband has sole physicial custody and they share legal custody. MN holds jurisdiction over custody and visitation even tho we live in CO and the ex lives in ND.

If it is not addressed in the court order, there is nothing to preclude the travel.
However, in most cases the Court will require advance notice of out of state travel including providing the other parent with a physical location and telephone number where the child will be staying
