Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I own a daycare center. One of the childs parents are going through a custody battle as we speak. Today the father came in with papers from a judge stating that he was in his legal right to take his daughter with him. I read the papers myself and it was true and the child left with her dad. The mother is irrate about this. She has court documents that superceed the ones he had. She has not given me copies of her court documents everything has been word of mouth. Am I liable for anything in this matter? For example sued for negligence or misconduct? Please help very worried!

It is often not easy to be the daycare provider in the middle of a custody battle. I would urge you to contact your insurance carrier as well as an attorney experienced in daycare liability. I would also urge you to come up with a protocol you and your staff will follow when this issue comes up again - which it will. My area of practice is family law and while this question involves family law (a custody battle) it is not a family law question. Good Luck.
