Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
devorce creed and what is right
I devorced my wife back in 1998. I took her to court to get my son and wasn't able, even that I knew she had a drinking problem and had other sex partners. She broke the law in regards to letting me have visits with my son. My son called me and told me on the phone that he didn't want to see me. I have paid my child support and carried health insurance for my son. Lately, I got a call from collections that I owed 998.00 in doctor calls that the insurance didn't cover. I feel that in the devorced creed that it says 1/2 and 1/2. Child support is paid to her, and I know she uses it for bar tabs. What more can I do? If this goes on, I will end up paying huge bills. What is my rights? --name removed--from Minnesota

Re: devorce creed and what is right
If you have an order that allows parenting time and the other party denies that time, it is up to you to file a Motion for contempt and to seek a remedy.
Your divorce decree or a subsequent child suport order also will indicate how medical expenses are divided. That is what must be followed. If you believe that improper expenses are being submitted, you must file a Motion to challenge those costs before a chlid support Magistrate.
