Re: divorce delaying

I am sorry for the trouble you seem to be having getting your matter concluded.

I would recommend that your lawyer perhaps file a copy of the stipuation and other documents with the court (if he or she has a complete copy). It is also important to realize that it sometimes takes a few weeks for all of your paperwork get processed through the lawyers' offices and the court. Particularly in the main metropolitan counties (Hennepin and Ramsey), things can sometimes move slowly.

If you feel you need assistance, you can contact my office. My contact information is below.

Good luck.

Re: divorce delaying

No. It is not illegal.

However, it may be a breach of professional responsibility to the attorney's client, your spouse. If your spouse feels as if the attorney is not acting promptly in her case, she may make a complaint to the Minnesota Board of Professional Responsibility.

You also have the option of having your lawyer draft the necessary documents and submitting them to the court.
