Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

divorce on hold

I filed for divorce from my husband. Now We want to go to counseling to save our marriage. I put the divorce on hold, now he must respond to my demands (due in a week) and states I will not like what I will be reading from his attorney. He wants me to terminate the divorce so we can move forward with counseling. He feels this is the only way it will work for us getting back together....things are going so well for us now since we have communicated..

Re: divorce on hold

I am not certain what your question may be.

Your attorney may grant an indefinite extension of time in which to interpose an Answer to the Petition while you explore counseling and/or reconciliation. The Answer will likely include things you will not like since it is designed to request the maximum that can be gained in a divorce since you cannot receive what is not requested. If you understand it is a positioning paper, you may be able to avoid conflict because of its language.
