Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

divorce resolution

My divorce became final 04/30/2007. I was ordered to pay marital property in the amount of $14,000.00 in monthly payments of $162.50. I was not able to make the payments. Her attorney sued me and received a judgement in the amount of $2000.00. I have had custody of my child. Can I go back to Court and reopen the divorce decree and have the Marital property redone? I have had custody of my child since May 2008 and have paid child support through 03/31/09 of $413.00. I now have joint legal and sole physical custody.

Re: divorce resolution

Property settlements are final and cannot be revisted. It is not related to custody issues I am afraid. You should file a Motion to modify custody and child support.
