Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
Divorces and Houses
I am in the middle of a divorce. So far, it is amiable and no lawyers have been required. I am filling out the paperwork and we are trying to sell the house.
This morning, the wife said she will not sign the paperwork until the house is fully sold. This is a change on her part.
What benefits/hazards are there if the divorce decree is signed and completed by the courts before the house is sold?

Re: Divorces and Houses
There is no benefit or harm so long as the Marital Termination Agreement and Divorce Decree clearly specify the rights of each party to the homestead or sale proceeds and address any contingencies in the event the house should not be sold for an extended period or at a mutually agreeable price.
