Ending support payments

In accordance with our divorce

decree my support payments to my x

wife were to end at my age 65

(2005). Prior to that she went to

court and got a ruling that they were

to continue indefantely. I am about

to retire and since my social security

and pension will be roughly 3200 a

month I cannot continue to pay her

the over 2600 she now gets. She

got half of my retirement account at

the time of the divorce so I would

think the support should end upon

my retirement but the court ruling

doesn't seem to allow that. I have

tried to get her to discuss the issue

but she won't. I really can't afford to

pay for an attorny to resolve the

issue (in the past support issues have

cost me about 20K). What are my

rights and options? Thanks

You have to bring a motion to end or change your support obligation. Otherwise it continues. Dennis.
