The answer is not a simple one. There are many different types of evidence offered for a myriad of purposes. That is one of the reasons lawyers attend law school. An analysis requires an understanding of the Rules of Evidence along with an understanding of the particular exhibit, why it is being offered and what, if any, foundation is required.
