Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
Entry to residence during separation
I am currently separated from my husband (but not legally) while we decide on a divorce. In the meantime we are preparing our home to be sold. My husband stayed in the home we used to share and has changed the locks and not given me a key. Although I wasn't sure that he had a right to do this, I didn't mind so much until now that I am working on the house during the day while he is gone, he continually ''forgets'' to leave the door unlocked for me. He is in no hurry to sell the house but I need to sell it asap because I need the proceeds to live on while my disability cliam is pending. What can I do about being locked out and about him dragging his feet selling the house?
Thank you

Unless a legal action is commenced, there is no way to compel your spouse to provide access to teh house. You have equal rights to access at this point but there is no legal way to get a key without first commencing an action.
