Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
my ex-husband is an attorney. we have been divorced since Jan 2000. He has calculated his own child support every year, (he is a partner in a law firm and income changes yearly due to commission / bonus) without ever providing verification of any income / deductions even though I request them. He knows how much I need the income and just writes me a check knowing I will cash it. Can he do this?

Hello. I am not I understand your question, since you state he is indeed doing so. Of course, your post raises 'red flags'. Please do confer privately with an attorney and she/he will be happy to assist you and advise you. In matters pertaining to child support, attorney assistance is typically markedly cost effective to the client.

No. Child support is set based on a court order. It can only be modified by a subsequent court order. That is generally accomplished by filing a motion. You are certainly entitled to any financial information related to a child support calculation.
