Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

My ex fiance was convicted of a felony (2008) in MN for hitting our 16 month old son in the head. He received a five year sentence, served six months, and is now on probation in MN. A friend just informed me he moved out of MN and relocated to Chicago. Can a man on probation relocate to another state? and, being there is a no contact order of protection in place for the time of his probation does anyone need to inform me of his move. I now live in NC. There has been no contact.

An individual on probation may be able relocate with the approval of the court. I am not sure if a victim is given notice of the move. You may want to contact the prosecutor for specific information. In addition, you may want to contact a local abuse victim support group. It may be able to assist you in making sure the local authorities are aware of the no contact order (i.e filing it in your current jurisdiction) or applying for a new one in South Carolina.
