Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

We are being harrassed by future ex-daughter in-law

We are being harrassed daily/weekly by telephone. Our son is constantly being charged w/crimes that always get dismissed when we get to court. We have spent over 10k on attorney's fees and no results. He couldn't even get them divorced. She abandonned her custody rights (physical) because getting drunk was more important than being a parent. She also refuses to pay any child support as she was ordered. Out of the 19 things she was ordered to do she only chooses visitation. How do we stop the constant harrassment? My grandson was almost taken to a childrens shelter today when the sherriff arrested our son for another false charge. What do we do to stop her?

I want to suggest that you look into joining Co-Dependants Anonymous. Everything you write is about somebody else's problem. Only your son can solve his legal problems. They are not yours to solve. You should not be paying his attorney fees either. You are trying too hard to help and making it worse in the process.

If you read, go out and get a copy of "Tough Love."

Good luck.

The answer to your question is not an easy one. The police must investigate any and all reports of criminal activity . However, you can,to a degree, look at this persons conduct as the last acts of a desperate person who is very clearly losing her case.

You may keep records of all her inappropriate reports and activities usingthem in the family court proceeding as a basis to seek attorney's fees. Moreover, if her conduct is endangering the children you may also be able to ask for supervised visitation.
