Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I hired an attorney to represent me in a divorce/child custody case. I gave her $400 for the flling fee. I have since terminator her as my attorney and requested that money back. She stated to me that the money was used but it was not used for the filling fee as we have not yet filled. Am I entitled to that money back?

You would have to check your retainer agreement. Attorneys generally bill their time hourly and it is possible that the $400 was exhausted in that fashion. If that is the case, your attorney must provide you with an itemization of the costs incurred.
