iwas not married to my daughters Mom,but her sister got her death benefits.Is there any legal way for me to receive the portion my daughter was supposed to get?

First, the answer to your question depends on what death benefits you are referring to. Pay on death accounts specify the beneficiary and,as a result, are paid to that named beneficiary.
Second, if your child was the named beneficiary, the legal custodian of the child has control of those proceeds in trust for the minor child. If you have not established yourself as the custodial parent by Court Order, you would not be charged with caring for the child's proceeds as the child's trustee.
