Legal description of significant other.

What is the legal definition for significant other?

What does the court consider as a significant other when it comes to child custody issues involved with a divorce?

The term "signifcant other" does not appear in any statute related to divorce, paternity or custody.

In most cases having a "significant other" is irrelevant to custody issues unless it can be shown that contact with that person is not in the child's best interests
