Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
What options do I have to a daycare provider that fails to provide childcare information (invoices/cost) based on my parental rights as the legal father? The home daycare provider is a "friend" of my ex-wife and states that she will not give me the information because she doesn't want to get in the middle of it; however, based on our custody paperwork and child support is based on a more expensive after-school care at the private school she goes to.

The last line of your question didn't make full sense but I believe I understand what you meant to say, so I'll try to answer in generalities. The matter of day care being provided by friend or family and the 'outsider' paying party desiring proof of the 'true' payment being made to the day care provider is a not uncommon issue that I see in my legal practice. I presume you presently have no legally established right to see invoices and proof of payment. I suggest that you confer with an attorney of your choosing to discuss the issue in greater detail, because certainly there may be more factors involved in this issue than those you stated. I suggest that you make several phone calls to attorneys in choosing who you want to help you, because it is important that you feel great trust with the attorney; attorneys certainly do vary in approach and demeanor. The attorney would review the existing court order with you as a part of the consultation with you and discuss the facts with you. When I meet with persons in a situation such as yours I will explore multiple possible paths of action with you and I certainly try to be helpful to you in aiming for effective ways of resolving the problem including the consideration of cost-effectiveness. In my experience, oftentimes the client will actually have multiple legal issues, so we will discuss some other legal problems at the same appointment.
