Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

paternity

I have recently been contacted and told by a 19yr old girl that I'm her father. I'm doubting this but if it turns out I am, what am I responsible for at this point?

Re: paternity

You are not responsible for anything until a court states that you are. As part of the paternity process, you may seek DNA testing. After paternity is determined, you may seek to establish parental rights related to custody and parenting time. The court will also address the issue of who provides health insurance for the child, how uninsured medical expenses are divided, and division of costs related to the pregnancy and potential child care.
