Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Paternity test too late?

How would I go about getting a paternity test done? If it proves my ex is not the father of my school age child, what will change?

There is no court ordered anything other then state issued child support.

Even though my ex signed the birth certificate, if the test proves he's not the ''father'', will he still be obligated to my child?

Re: Paternity test too late?

If the paternity test proves he is not the father, he may choose to petition the court to terminate his financial obligations to the child. If he did that, in most cases, he would generally also be giving up all of his rights to visitation. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
