A person may be found in contempt if the court determines that they had an ability to pay child support, even one dollar more than they did, and they failed to pay. Child suport orders remain in effect unless they are modified by filin g a Motion . If they are not modified, an arrearage will continue to accrue. A person is not exempted automatically from paying support because they receive public assistance.
