Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

What is the precedence in the state of Mn regarding spousal support, where child support is not an issue? Does it go on forever, normally, or is there a time frame within which it comes to an end? I have been paying $1000.00 a month for about 11 years now, and I wondered if this is normally the case, or if there is precedence concerning this, which could help me bring this to an end.

Thank you

The critical issue is what your court order states. Permanent spousal maintenance is just that, permanent, unless or until there has been some substantial change in circumstance that warrants a modification.
