Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I know there are prenuptial agreements, but is there such a thing as a post nuptial agreement that will hold up in court? Would I be able to create a document to protect my assets before the marriage?

Yes, it is possible to have a post nuptial agreement, but they must be carefully drafted, supported by consideration, and each party should have counsel. They tend to be disfavored, and must be carefully considered. Call if you require further specific advise. 612.234.2116.

Yes, there are post nuptial agreements authorized by Minnesota Statutes. However, there are very specific rules as to how they must be drafted, reviewed and signed. Both parties would require a lawyer under Minnesota statutes.

For a consultation call 612.240.8005.
