Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

When preparing a divorce petition with a CHIPS case pending (offending mother, non-offending & non-custodial father), I understand custody of the children is a reserved issue. There are no disputes over any remaining issues of the marriage. What wording should be used to defer/reserve the custody issue and to preserve the fathers possible future custody? Thank you!

The father should be turning to his attorney for this legal advice. If the father has not retained an attorney for some reason, the father should confer with an attorney on a limited scope legal services basis in order to receive the legal counsel of which he is obviously in need. Some attorneys, not all, will provide reduced fee for financial hardship. All the best. The Decree would just indicate that custody is reserved. For a consultation call 612-240-8005.
