Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I am pretty sure my son has dyslexia, but as far as I know, has not be officially diagnosed. Is dyslexia treatment at a brain training facility considered a medical expense that a non-custodial parent is responsible to pay? The divorcement agreement states the non-custodial parent is responsible for 39% of the medical expenses of the children. It is not covered by insurance.

Hello. What you should do is contact a private attorney who will review the wording of your existing divorce document. It may be that you will want or need to take action to attempt to alter certain wording of your existing court order (a divorce decree is a court order). There are particular clauses and wording that may be used in matters of health care expenses (for minor children) which are not covered by any insurance. This website provides general information and not provide legal advice. Some attorneys are available seven days for emergency legal needs. Many attorneys will confer initially at no charge. Then, if legal work is performed, some attorneys will provide a reduced fee for financial hardship. Some attorneys may also assist you in limited scope manner to conserve legal costs. All the best.
