Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I received a letter saying that a bench warrant has been issued for failure to appear in court for a child support hearing. I am the mother in this situation and did not know of the court date. I've tried call the Family Court office but they tell me all I can do is pay the $500.00 fine or bail. Is this correct? Is there some other action I should take? Please help. Thanks!

The bail set is usually based on attorney's fees expended byu the other side to appear or based on child support arrears. You would be required to pay that amount to remain free pending a new hearing at which you may contest the bail and jurisdiction if there was a lack of service.
