Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I am recently divorced, with 2 kids. My wife divorced me because I had a drinking problem. A guardian ad litem was put in place, but has been nothing more than a parole officer for me. There was at no time laws broken. I have been completely sober for a year, and have proven it through testing requirements set up by the GAL. But still am not able to have my girls other than within a confined parenting time program. Purpose has turned into punishment, yet I am not a criminal. How do I get out of this? How do I get my children back? I love them with everything I've got, and they desperately miss their dad. Please help. Please advise.

Thank you

There is no easy answer to your question. It would require a full case review to determine the precise procedural status. If you have a court order, your remedy is to file a Motion to modify that court order with regard to custrody and/or parenting time. A critical issue would be to present a compelling case with records and therapy related to the addiction issues.
