Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Reimburment Alimony?

My huband of 3 1/2 years ''conned'' me into taking a mortgage on my premarital home to pay off his pre-marital debt. I inherited the home from my mother upon her death and is still in my maiden name. My attorney doesn't think I will be awarded spousal maintenance due to the short length of the marriage. He left me after several affairs with other women. How can I get him to pay back the $40,000.00+ he owes me?

First thing is, if you have an attorney, follow that attorney's advice. Sounds as if you have discussed this with your attorney and don't like the answer.

I suspect that you may never be able to get that money back from your soon to be X-husband. He sounds like a user and taker and moving target. Consider the $40,000 the cost of your education - and learn the lesson well.

Good luck.
