Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Religion Laws?

We are divorced and I have been taking my daughter to church. Her dad does not believe in religion or god. He doesn't think I should be taking her. Is there any law that stops me from taking her to church on the Sunday's I have her? He says we will go back to court if needed. I believe it is good for our daughter to go to church. Thanks.

Re: Religion Laws?

If your decree did not address the issue, there is no preclusion against a parent taking a child to church. However, if the parents share legal custody, schooling decisions, including religious education, should be discussed and agreed upon. If the parties cannot agree, it is an issue to be determined by the court.
