Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

my rights to refuse divorce...

I am living in Texas, my wife has been living in Minnesota for over two months now. My question is, with all the different forms of "divorce" that exist in Minnesota, i.e. divorce, legal separation, annullment, and one or two others, what are my rights as far as refusing any of these forms of "divorce". My religious beliefs prohibit divorce of any kind. She knew my beliefs when she married me. Can't I simply refuse to sign divorce papers, or refuse to agree to divorce? Will the fact that I am living in Texas, and she is living in Minnesota help my cause for refusing divorce?

Re: my rights to refuse divorce...

You may refuse any arrangement, but if she is determined she will be granted a divorce in MN after she has established residency. She is entitled under MN law to a divorce whether or not you wish one, and regardless of anyone's religious beliefs.

You may be better off to cooperate and obtain a better settlement than to try to thwart her wishes, as she will get the divorce anyway and you could be in better economic shape if you participate.

I understand that divorce is against your religious beliefs, but we are dealing here with the laws of man which permit divorce.
