I have been in a relationship for 17 years. We have two children together and he bought a house in 1995 my name was never put on the mortgage, do i have any rights to the equity in the house. He has told me in the past that he would put my name on the house but never did

You have a problem. Minnesota does not recognize common law marriages so you have no rights to anything that is in his sole name unless you can prove a direct financial contribution. I strongly suggest that you deal with this. If he dies, you are out of the home. There are likely other assets that need to be dealt with. He could make a Will giving you everything but he can change it any time he wants. Raise the issue with him and if he refuses to do what is necessary, you may want to see a lawyer. Dennis
