rights of unmarried fathers

Please help! What rights does a father have if he is not married to the child's mother and they separate? Does he have any at all?

Under Minnesota law, an unmarried woman is the sole legal and sole physical custody of her child. Even if the father signed a Recognition of Parentage, the father has no enforceable rights until he goes to court.
