Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Sole custody

My sons father has sole custody of our son due to a matter of default. Ihave reasonable supervised visitation. However we live many states away and it is hard for me to go there on a regular basis. My son was recently taken away from my husband by the state of Minnesota for a short period of time. Ever since then his father says I am not aloud to talk to Zack and I am to send no letters nor Iam I able to have access to his school, which I was regulary involved with Zacks counselor. Is this right legally? When this court order was issued it said nothing of me losing my parental rights, but now it seems I have! will you please let me know whaat my legal rights are?

Re: Sole custody

I am a family law attorney in the Twin Cities (located in Bloomington, Minnesota). I would need to see a copy of your court order and would need to discuss with you the situation surrounding the State taking the child from your husband and the circumstances as they exist with him right now. Also, you use the word husband. Are you still married or have you gotten a divorce?

Let me know. My e-mail is [email protected]

Re: Sole custody

And from Kansas: where was the court order where custody was determined? That is the court which retains jurisdiction of your case. . .and where any pleadings re the same must be filed unless an emergency exists. Contact legal counsel. . .it sounds like you didn't understand the original proceeding but u may have a child out there who needs you. Get off your duff, and seek legal advise.
