Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

uncontested adoption

I have a 13 year old daughter that my husband has raised since she was four months old. He would like to adopt her. Four days ago we were able to locate her biological father. We are pretty sure he will be willing to sign adoption papers for her. Do we really need an atorney to write up these papers is this something we can do a lot of the leg work ourselves. Is this as simple as it seems it should be. We don't have a lot of extra money to waste paying more than we need to to get this done.

Re: uncontested adoption

The documents necessary for a Step parent adoption are rather complicated. It also still requires a home study performed. You may need the assistance of an attorney in such matters since I am unaware of any forms that can be used to help file such an action.
