Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

wife left to hook up with boyfriend in europe. I live in minn, but i want to take the kids to cali where i'm from. i have stable living arraingments with my father untill i get situated and can start the kids in school right away. my question is : am I getting into legal trouble taking my kids back home?

If you are divorced or if there is an order awarding your wife parenting time, then you must get her permission to move with the children to California or get a court order allowing you to move. If there is no court order or divorce decree, there is no Minnesota statute (law) which prevents you from moving with the children to California.
