Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota
What will happen to my child if I die?
I was told that in the State of Minnesota if I die, my mother would
get custody of my daughter because my daughter's father and I
were never married. If this is true, how do I go about making sure
her father gets custody of her without having to fight my mother for
custody?

The natural father would have priority over the grandmother, assuming he is a person with parental rights to begin with. He has to legally be the father in the first place. There needs to have been a paternity order or a declaration of parentage.
