Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

I was wondering if I could go get my child from out of state because I lost custody of him and his father went to jail, but now he is out and living in Minnesota but looking at 2 years in prison and the child is in Illinios and the people he is with don't have custody.

You may file a Motion for a change of custody based on the circumstances described. That would include filing for ex pare (emergency) relief seeking a return of the child to your home.

Unfortunately, such a Motion is not simple and would likely require an attorney.
