IOU's

an acquaintence of mine borrowed money from me in 2005 w/ a hand wriiten note of IOU. i have the note still and have not beened paid. what can i do to to be compensated?

You can take the defendant to conciliation court in the defendant's county if the claim is for less than $7,500 or you can hire an attorney (if there is a good chance of success, I would probably be willing to bring suit on a 1/3 contingency basis). Kent Gravelle

Assuming it's signed by him it's a legally binding document. You can sue him in conciliation (small claims) court. Here's a link
