legality of having to return gifts given in a relationship

a friend recently broke up with her fiance and now he is aking for everything back he bought her during their relationship. He bought her a new washer and dryer because he said she needed it, yet nothing was wrong with old one. Bought her a new plasma tv on her birthday mothers day, again nothing wrong with old one. and so one and so forth. does he have any leagl discord to get these items back.?

Generally no. Based on the facts here, it is impossible to be definitive. There are some legal theories he could assert that may give him a claim, but a gift is usually not something you get back because it is a gift. Once it is given, a gift is usually given away forever and cannot be reclaimed.
