Re: settlement
Entering a settlement on the record in court is generally as effective as signing a written settlement agreement. Whether you can get out of the settlementmay be affected by how clearly it was stated, whether you were represented by an attorney and other circumstances. A settlement agreement is a contract, and the dismissal of a case as a result of a settlement agreement is an order and judgment. There are proceedures for attempting to undo both of these, but liklihood of success will depend on your particular facts. If you do intend to try to get out of settlement you must act quickly, before there is much reliance on it and before the time for moving the court for relief from the order/judgment passes.
